Award winning composer Daniel Licht returns to score the series finale season of Showtime's Dexter. Known for original instrumentation and experimental composing techniques, Licht incorporates the sounds of surgical tools, playing the rims of wine glasses, and duct tape to play a psychological effect on the audience. For Dexter Season 7, Licht incorporated numerous violin's to create a lush, romantic feel for the series. The Dexter Season 7- Music from the Showtime Original Series will be available on Milan Records on Tuesday, August 20, 2013.

Daniel Licht has built a reputation for playing an instrument any way but ordinary; he plays them upside down, sideways, and with human bones. He recently created the atonal score for the award winning video game Dishonored and the ambient score for the video games Silent Hill: Downpour and Silent Hill: Book of Memories. Other credits include Thinner, Children of the Corn II, and Dumbstruck.

Award winning composer Daniel Licht returns to score his eighth consecutive and final season of Showtime’s Dexter, currently airing on Showtime on Sundays at 9/8c. Known for eccentric scoring techniques, Licht has treated the Dexter audience to sounds of tethered duct tape, playing wine glasses, and scraping surgical tools through his score for the series. The series centers on Dexter Morgan, a blood splatter pattern analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer. In this epic series finale, Deb and Dexter battle many internal issues while still protecting the citizens of Miami from serial killers. Licht recently scored NBC’s drama Deception and the video game Dishonored. The Dexter Season 7- Music from the Showtime Original Series will be available on Milan Records Tuesday, August 20, 2013.

Daniel Licht’s goal with his unorthodox instrumentation and inventive instruments is to create the ultimate psychological effect on the audience. “I incorporate the sound of a surgical tool clanking against a wooden block or a knife cutting through an animal carcass with a full orchestra to illustrate the depth of each killing Dexter commits, whilst having a cognitive response from the audience,” stated Licht. Michael C. Hall said, “Dan creates the aural landscape that sets the tone for us. I feel like it’s a fundamental part, as much as any character.”

Daniel Licht has built a solid reputation for original instrumentation in film, television, and video game composing. With an expansive horror background, Licht has used his intuitive scoring techniques for projects including the films Thinner, Children of the Corn II, and Soul Survivors as well as video games such as Silent Hill: Downpour and Silent Hill: Book of Memories. For the award winning video game, Dishonored, Licht created an ambient score with atonal textures and included the use of the Stardivari Hammer violin. Other credits include the documentary Dumbstruck, ABC’s Body of Proof, Cowboy Up, and The Winner. Licht’s accolades include BMI Film and TV Music Awards and Composer of the Year from the Annual Horror Awards.
