Pacific Rim Premieres at the Dolby Theater

July 22, 2013 - 04:33 AM

Pacific Rim marks the fifth film premiere to be hosted at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, CA, including Oscar®-nominated films Zero Dark Thirty and Brave, as well as the recently released Oblivion and Star Trek Into Darkness.

Pacific Rim was mixed in Dolby Atmos at Warner Bros. Stage 10

The Dolby Atmos mix of Pacific Rim was helmed by Academy Award®-winning re-recording mixers John T. Reitz and Greg Rudloff, who were accompanied by Tim LeBlanc. Scott Gershin was the supervising sound editor.

The Dolby Theatre’s transformation is as dramatic as when black and white met color. Here are the recent upgrades:

• Approximately 200 new speakers installed throughout the Theatre

• A new 60 x 32 foot screen on the stage

• 13 new subwoofers spread throughout the room to control the base

• •Christie’s 4K Solaria CP4230 projectors with Dolby 3D, a set-up which will enable the brightest Dolby 3D picture possible—providing quadruple the standard light for a 3D movie—for the west coast premiere of Pacific Rim
