Help Us Protect California's Cherished Film Industry, and Reclaim Our Share of Film & Television Production Jobs
Northern California Rally for Film Incentives
Presented by Film It NorCal
Saturday, June 14, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco
As a Film Works supporter, there’s a good chance that you or someone you know has personally felt the devastating impact of the decline of film production in California. You understand what’s at stake, so we need YOUR HELP to save California’s film and television production industry, and the jobs the industry creates for working Californians.
On June 14, 2014, our partners at FilmItNorCal are organizing a Northern California Rally for Film Incentives in San Francisco. Help us PACK THE ROOM at this FREE rally event and send a strong message that California needs film jobs!
At the rally, organizers will lay out actions that you can take to support California Assembly Bill 1839 (AB 1839), The Expanded Film and Television Job Creation Act. This bill is working its way through our state legislature, but is by no means a done deal. We need your support to demonstrate – especially to Northern California legislators – that we all need this bill to pass. Current Northern California supporters note that AB 1839 includes a 5% bump in credits for filming outside Los Angeles.

What is Film Works?
Film Works is a public education campaign about filming in California. It’s also an effort to combat the problem of runaway production, which is when film and television productions leave the Golden State to shoot in other states and/or nations, causing California to lose thousands of middle class jobs and significant tax revenue.
Film Works is about reminding California residents how valuable the entertainment industry is to the state, and not just those living and working in Los Angeles. In no other state or country on Earth is the film industry such a pillar of the state economy or bedrock of community life. The motion picture and television industry sustains more than 190,000 direct jobs in California and annually pays out $17 billion in wages to state workers. As a major driver of the economy and huge source of employment and revenue, losing the film industry would be detrimental to the entire state.
Film Works is supported by a coalition of industry stakeholders from small businesses, local companies, labor organizations, community leaders and concerned citizens who want to take an active role in strengthening community ties to the entertainment industry and keeping California the world’s premier place to make films, television shows and commercials.
