You might not know Production Sound Mixer John Midgley, but you definitely have heard his incredible collection of work including the first three “Harry Potter” films, “Children of Men”, and “Hotel Rwanda”.
John Midgley was recently honored with his second Academy Award nomination for his work on “The King’s Speech” and was previously nominated for “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace” in 1999. In this 30-minute conversation, the SoundWorks Collection explore what it was like to capture these critically acclaimed performances by Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter. Synopsis
After the death of his father King George V (Michael Gambon) and the scandalous abdication of King Edward VIII (Guy Pearce), Bertie (Colin Firth) who has suffered from a debilitating speech impediment all his life, is suddenly crowned King George VI of England. With his country on the brink of war and in desperate need of a leader, his wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), the future Queen Mother, arranges for her husband to see an eccentric speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush).
